Rizzetta's Tones is a Celtic Americana band, comprised of two hammer dulcimers, silver flute, high and low whistles, guitar, plus alto and bass melodions. We often spice up our sound with button accordion, Greek bouzouki, mandolin, autoharp, ukulele, as well as bodhran, djembe, and other percussion instruments. We perform with around 15+ instruments on-stage. We bring our own sound system and engineer.
All band members sing lead and backing vocals on various songs, both poignant and humorous. Our repertoire includes music from Ireland, Scotland, and the USA, drawing as well from the traditions of many other lands. Forging new arrangements and writing our own material, we present audiences with a pleasing twist while respecting musical traditions. We have been together as a band, for around 10 years.
Our 'play on words' band name honors Sam Rizzetta, engineer, scientist, pilot, dulcimer builder and player, innovator, composer, teacher, and friend. Sam was notably instrumental (intended) in the resurrection and improvement of the hammer dulcimer from the 1960's to the present. Sam passed, on October 26, 2021. He is truly missed...
